Grant Farred is a leading figure in postcolonial and transnational cultural studies. He is the author of What's My Name? Black Vernacular Intellectuals ( University of Minnesota Press, 2003) and Midfielder's Moment: Coloured Literature and Culture in Contemporary South Africa (Westview Press, 1999). He is the editor of Rethinking C.L.R James (Basil Blackwell Publishers, 1966). His forthcoming books include Long Distance Love: A Passion for Football (Temple University Press, 2007) and The Phantom Calls: Race and Globalization in the NBA (Prickly Paradigm Press, 2006). He is the General Editor of the Duke-based journal The South Atlantic Quarterly (SAQ).
