KINES 394, "Ancient Greek Heritage in Modern Kinesiology." S.

the cultural manifestations of "ancient Greece" associated with sport,
athletics and body culture in the modern Western world.
Focuses upon and critiques the practices of communities associated with
academe, athletics, physical education, sports administration and athletic
festivals to rediscover and reinvent their motifs, beliefs and traditions as
"ancient" "Greek." Scholarship concerning philhellenism, olympism,
"invention of tradition," "authenticity," and "museums"
informs the tenets of the course. |
